The Fallen Heroes Program

Who Qualifies

The families of all members of the US Military and National Guard who have died since September 11, 2001 as a result of injuries sustained in combat or of injuries while on duty in an active combat zone.  Limit one quilt per fallen hero.  Additional quilts will be available at a significant discount.

How Does a Family Apply for a Quilt?

We have two procedures. We are giving priority to families of fallen heroes who are killed after our program launches on August 1, 2009.  In this way, we can get them their quilts quickly and hopefully bring them some additional comfort at their time of greatest need. Upon registering and the Foundation confirming that a request qualifies:

Where the death occurred subsequent to September 1, 2009, the family will receive a gift code from the Foundation which will allow them to receive one Fallen Hero's memorial quilt at no cost to them by following Patchwork Memorials normal online ordering procedure. They will receive their personalized quilt in about 6 to 8 weeks.

Where the death occurred prior to August 1, 2009, but after the attack of September 11, 2001, the families will be added to a wait list and will be sent their gift code in the order of their registration date.

Who is Paying for the Quilts?

Patchwork Memorials (PatchworkMemorials.com) has agreed to underwrite the cost of this program by producing quilts for families of fallen heroes killed after August 1, 2009 as necessary and additionally will donate one quilt for families on the Foundation's wait list for every 10 quilts it sells through its dealer network.  Given current military deaths, this already represents a value of around $2 million to the families of our fallen heroes.  We are currently open to additional sponsorships in the form of matching funds or other donations.
